Abstract

Abstract

As a traditional education institution, Madarijul Ulum Islamic Boarding School still exists in the community and consistently teaches kitab kuning in line with the conception of thought of its establishment and main purpose, which is to educate students to understand the religion (tafaqquh fiddin). Through the qualitative approach, it is found that in addition to still maintain the kitab kuning learning system using wetonan and sorogan methods, Madarijul Ulum Islamic Boarding School made some changes as improvements in teaching Islamic books. The core issue of changes is not about the understanding adopted by the board of school, but rather to the learning process to be performed by the addition of learning facilities, learning systems, learning stage setting, determination of Islamic books for every stage, the addition of non-salaf books (kitab kuning), and others.
